The ad starts with people some reactions that aren't really too surprising, a lot of shock, disappointment and even anger. The reactions that people give to consuming a Whopper aren't really that amazing but once something that people love is taken away from them, people start to react in a massive way.
Later on in the ad, people start breaking down, they start going into childhood stories of how much the Whopper has meant to them, how much it has been a part of their lives, these reactions while a bit over the top are honest and has come out due to the extremely shocking situation they've been put in. To make matters better, in the end they decide to swap out the Whopper for rival burgers such as a Big Mac, people get furious viciously defending their favourite item which has been around for many, many decades.
While it's a great product that people love it's really hard to do much interesting to sell with it, they've got a winning formula and they can't really find a new spin or new way of promoting it easily. It's America trusted favourite burger and they've figured out a way to show how much it really means to people in a way that was entertaining and even a little bit emotional.
